Our High School and Young Adult Services

Are you or your young adult struggling with adjusting to a new school, transition program, vocational program, or job placement? Having difficulties with time management and organization? Making friends or finding a peer group? Do you wish you or your young adult were able to interact more successfully with others in-person, over text-messaging, or on social media? Be more independent at home or in the community? Are you worried about your young adult transitioning into the next chapter of life after high school? KGH’s high school and young adult program can provide help and support with all of these challenges and more.

KGH offers innovative and comprehensive therapy services for high school and young adults with autism. We provide individualized and evidence-based therapy, consultation, education, support, and empowerment for young adults and their families.

  • KGH provides a comprehensive approach to therapy and offers applied behavior analysis (ABA), speech therapy, occupational therapy, social work services, social groups, and parent education and empowerment.
  • We can address challenges related to functional language and conversation, social skills, challenging behavior (aggression, property destruction), executive functioning skills, diet and exercise, sleeping, safety skills, leisure skills, and self-care skills.

Our High School and Young Adult Program

KGH offers comprehensive and focused therapy options as well as individual and group services, family support services, and consultation services all under one roof. Therapy sessions can take place at our clinic, in your home, out in the community, at school, vocational program, job placement, summer camp, or wherever you need us.

Our high school/young adult group services include a High School: Here I Am! group that allows young adults to discuss issues including adjusting to the new setting, balancing schedules, school work and leisure, making friends and finding a peer group, finding your ‘comfort zone’, being true to who you are, relationships with teachers and other staff, and choosing after-school activities. We also offer a Looking Ahead group that supports discussion around include transition programs, vocational programs, college, gap-year experiences, and jobs, a High School On-The-Town group to focus on increasing social and leisure skills in the community, a High School Texting Group to target social communication and texting safety, and a Social Night for Emerging Adults group that allows young adults to gather together and discuss topics including a present transition program, college, and/or work placement, the development of peer, co-worker and dating relationships, and how to solve social dilemmas may also be addressed.
